Behind the Lens
Nearly 20 years. Two countries. Countless moments. One continuing story.
Photography has been part of my life for nearly two decades — from my early years in the Philippines to my journey here in Australia.
What started as a passion gradually became a professional path, taking me through photography clubs, competitions, exhibitions, magazine features, advertising projects and countless opportunities to create through the camera.
For me, photography has never been simply about taking a good photograph. It has always been about seeing something, feeling something, and finding a way to preserve that moment.
My Journey in the Philippines
My professional photography journey began in the Philippines, where I became actively involved in the photography community.
I was one of the core officers of Cavite Camera Club, an experience that allowed me to grow not only as a photographer but also as part of a community of people who shared the same passion for creating images.
Throughout those years, I participated in numerous professional photography competitions, exhibitions, magazine projects and advertising campaigns.
Each experience taught me something different — from working with people and creating concepts to understanding light, composition and the importance of telling a story through an image.
Those years became the foundation of the photographer I am today.
From the Philippines to Australia
Moving to Australia brought a new chapter.
I continued pursuing photography while building my creative and business experience through PriorShot, working around areas such as modelling, set and creative projects, cars and other photographic work.
It became another chapter of learning — meeting people, creating images, experimenting with ideas and discovering new ways to combine photography with business.
But throughout all those years, one thing remained constant:
The camera was always there.
A New Chapter — Lights & Lens by Jillian
Today, I'm creating something new.
Lights & Lens by Jillian is the next chapter of my photographic journey — a new expression of the photographer behind PriorShot.
While PriorShot was built around projects, people and creative work, Lights & Lens is much more personal.
It is where I want to document my journey, my experiences, the places I discover, the moments that stay with me, and the stories behind the photographs I create.
Some images will be about beautiful places.
Some will be about history.
Some will simply capture a quiet moment that caught my eye.
And some will carry a story that only I know.
Together, they become a visual diary of my life through the lens.
More Than a Photograph
After nearly 20 years behind the camera, I've learned that the photographs we remember aren't always the most technically perfect ones. Sometimes, they're the ones that make us feel something.
A place that takes us back. A person we remember.
A moment we wish we could experience again.
A little piece of history that might otherwise disappear.
That is what I hope to capture with Lights & Lens.
Moments. Places. People. Stories. Memories.
All seen through my lens.

And now, I want those photographs to go beyond the screen.
Through my printing partnership with Canberra Tile Studio, selected Lights & Lens photographs
can be transformed into physical pieces for your walls, tables and spaces.
Because a photograph shouldn't always live inside a camera, computer or phone.
Sometimes, it deserves a place in your home.
