Some Pieces Stay. Some Pieces Change Us.
There are things we wish we could leave behind.
People. Memories. Heartbreak. Mistakes.
Words that were never said.
Goodbyes we weren't ready for.
But sometimes, healing isn't about pretending those experiences never happened.
It's about learning how to carry them differently.
The Pieces I Learned to Carry explores the emotional weight of the experiences we collect throughout our lives—and the quiet strength that comes from learning to live with them without allowing them to hold us back.
Pieces I Learned to Carry
This book is a deeply personal about the experiences, emotions, relationships, and life lessons that have shaped me. I wrote this book because there are moments in life that leave pieces of themselves with us. Some pieces are painful. Some become lessons. Some remind us of people we once loved, choices we made, things we lost, and versions of ourselves we had to leave behind.
Why I Wrote This Book?
I wrote Pieces I Learned to Carry because I realised that not everything we experience needs to be forgotten in order for us to move forward.
Sometimes, healing means learning how to carry the memories without allowing them to control who we become.
The idea behind Pieces I Learned to Carry grew from reflection. I began to realise that many of the things I had experienced had taught me lessons I did not understand at the time.
Some lessons came through love. Others came through loss, disappointment, relationships, family, choices, and moments when I had to learn to stand on my own. As I reflected on those experiences, I began to see them not simply as things that happened to me, but as pieces of my journey.
That is where the title came from.
I learned that we do not always leave our past completely behind. We carry pieces of it with us. The important part is learning which pieces deserve to remain, which ones need to be released, and how to carry what remains without losing ourselves.

The Pieces I Learned to Carry beautifully captures the weight of the things we keep hidden. Jillian's words made me reflect on the parts of my story I had been avoiding and reminded me that healing doesn't mean forgetting.
